Why QCRI? A question I asked myself when first invited to visit. My career path has been one of trying out new things, taking a direction very different from the one before, experiencing the new – cultures, challenges, opportunities. I was looking for the ‘next big thing’ to try. Once I visited here, the question became ‘Why not QCRI?’ And, when I was offered the opportunity to head Social Computing, my reaction was ‘Wow, QCRI!’
I’m very excited to be in Doha and to be part of QCRI and to have a chance to contribute to its exciting and ambitious mission.
For many people, it is difficult to imagine conducting the daily business of life without the assistance of the Web and Internet. My research interest is in making this interaction among people, technology, and information even better through applied research. QCRI is the place to do this type of research!
